Creating texture in art using various unconventional items
Beta Golchin is a Dubai born and raised Iranian artist who discovered her talent at the age of 14, after winning recognition in international art competitions. Beta specializes in acrylic paint, fluid paint, and color pencil mediums when expressing her unique and soulful style. Her themes include antique doors, color gradient koi fish, mandalas, and textured abstracts. She often uses unconventional techniques in her textured creations; strategically using things like stucco putty, wood shavings, foil, sand, fruit net, bandages, and even emergency blankets to create her unique pieces.
DOORS WITH SOUL
Beta’s obsession with antique doors, their historical significance, and weathered rustic appearances led her to create this collection where she uses various mediums to create unique texture in her art. The collection entitled “Doors With Soul” includes color pencil drawings, mix media, an oil painting, and acrylic paintings on cotton canvases and acid free Strathmore 400 series artist paper in various dimensions.
KOI FISH HARMONY
This collection highlights the symbolism of Koi in Japanese philosophy and color harmony that has a deep significance for Beta. Using color theory as the basis of her palettes, acrylic gloss gel, thickening paste, and flow mediums, she creates a juxtaposition of excitement and calmness in these artworks. They signify the importance of balance amidst the chaos of everyday life. Supports for these paintings include cotton canvas, wood panel, and high-quality acid free paper in various dimensions.
MANDALA MAGIC
In Jungian psychology a mandala is a symbol of a dream and represents the dreamer’s search for completeness and self-unity. Beta uses this symbol in her art to remind herself and the world that we are all one, and the universe is inside all of us. By connecting to oneself, one is able to achieve all their dreams and desires with enough confidence, courage and self-belief. The color gradients used are connected to each chakra of the human body, to cleanse and energize particular chakras that are blocked from achieving those dreams.
TEXTURED ABSTRACTS
In today’s environmentally conscious era Beta has found a way to bring awareness to the prevention of global warming by repurposing household items to create texture in her artwork. Items include fruit net, sand, eggshells, seeds, unused bandage, wood shaving, used envelopes, foil, and emergency blanket foils. She continues to experiment with different items to create unusual and unique textures that have deep meaning and themes within her artwork.
